MELISSA MILLER
My best advice is to take your time and ENJOY the wedding planning process. We started planning 15 months in advance, so we never felt rushed to choose our vendors or to book everything at once. Because of this we were able to choose the best vendors. In my opinion this is the secret to end up with the wedding of your dreams! Whenever you get overwhelmed or stressed out, take a step back and remind yourself that your wedding day will be the best day of your life and everything you have ever dreamt it to be. (Trust me, it really will be!) All of the planning is definitely worth it when I think back to our wedding day. I can honestly say I wish I could do it all again…and again.
What It’s Like to Be a Ceci Bride:
The Ceci New York creative process was by far the most exciting and rewarding part of our wedding planning! Custom invitations give you a glimpse into what your wedding will look and feel like before your big day. Ceci turns all your wedding dreams and ideas into an inspiration board and from there creates the most beautiful interpretation of your wedding through her custom invitation designs. She truly is a designer, and there is no limit to what Ceci can do. She even had the ruched tulle bellybands hand-sewn for our invites! Plus, she keeps the whole design process so organized by creating a timeline she really sticks to. As for the final product, every little detail on the invites was perfection and of the highest quality. The paper and the letterpress was out-of-this-world gorgeous! To say that our invitations were perfect is an understatement!

Exclusive: Style Me Pretty Shares Bridal Beauty Tips

Now that wedding season has started, one of our favorite bridal inspiration blogs, Style Me Pretty, is about to release a new edition of its digital magazine. The issue doesn’t go live until next Monday, June 18, but we got an exclusive sneak peek with this pretty snapshot and accompanying beauty tutorial. Here’s how to recreate the look for yourself:
1. Get smoldering, smoky eyes with Nars creme shadow in Lido or Lil Marlene. Apply all over the lid, up to the crease of the eye. Generously add Night Clubbing by Nars to the lid. Take a blending shadow blush such as Nars Shader Brush #3 and only smudge around the outside of the darkest color, blending the outline of the lid into the crease. Line your upper and lower water line (that’s the inside of the eye) with Waterproof Aqua Black gel liner by Make Up Forever. Finish it with thick fake lashes and a layer of your favorite mascara.
2. Soft cheeks are a must! Apply a pale peach blush such as Douceur by Nars, giving just a spot of color the the outside of the cheekbone. Add MAC Matte Bronzer to the hollow part of the cheek for a more defined look.
3. Lips should be nude! Try Giorgio Armani’s Plums or Beige lipstick and apply a soft, shimmery gloss like Sugar from Bobbi Brown.

San Ysidro Ranch Wedding Featured on Style Me Pretty!
San Ysidro Ranch Wedding by Jose Villa Photography + Joy de Vivre Part I
I’m a girl’s girl. The kind that will always find comfort in the color pink. That will forever sigh when I see a bundle of peonies. The kind of girl’s girl that can spot a perfect Jose Villa photograph from a mile away. And whose fingers can’t ever find the right words to introduce one of his stunning weddings. So imagine my nerdiness when you layer on a bride that is glowing from the inside out, a groom that is all dreaminess and a wedding style by Joy de Vivre and Florette Floral Designs that would make anyone swoon. Yeah, I know. Pure wedding bliss in full effect. We have Part II coming up next, but if you want to cheat (and we totally get it), you can check out the full gallery right here.

From the Bride… I’ve always dreamed of a garden wedding. There is something so effortlessly romantic and beautiful about nature. We kept our wedding simple and tried to allow the beautiful surroundings at San Ysidro Ranch to stand out. With only 60 of our closest friends and family (plus our precious poodle, Molly), the day was intimate and special. We had the ceremony in a grassy lawn with two arches adorned with small white roses. Dinner was served in a cozy cottage, warmly lit by the setting sun. The characteristic fireplace added a homey touch alongside the bookshelf of vintage books and vases. The long wooden tables we sat around came to life with gorgeous centerpieces arranged by the amazing Kelly from Florette Designs. She also arranged my unforgettable bouquet of peonies, dahlias, and jasmine vines, while my sweet bridesmaids each held single-stemmed blush peonies. We took a break and had a moment to ourselves in the lavender fields, just Jason and me, soaking in the remainder of the sun and all the beauty surrounding us. Our photographer, Jose, and our cinematographer, Joel, captured every precious moment and were the sweetest people to be around. There was so much love in the air, and to us, this was the most perfect day.

Elizabeth and Matthew
For Elizabeth and Matthew the good things in life — oranges, avocados, and true love — can be found in Ojai. As a tribute to their SoCal alma mater, where they met, they designed their wedding around the school’s colors, orange and green.
On the big day, guests were greeted with citrus cocktails, and Elizabeth walked down an aisle lined with foliage and oranges. The theme continued to the reception, where tables were decorated with arrangements of fiery flowers and even more oranges.
The Invitation
Invitations, designed by Lisa “Ceci” Johnson at Ceci New York, featured fancy flourishes and a custom crest that includes “things important to us,” says the bride. “Like horses, an orange tree, an anchor for Matt’s love of sailing, and a toad — our high school mascot.”
Save the Date
Booklets with letterpressed wood-grain paper covers were mailed to loved ones to spread the news.
Bridal Party
The bride is flanked by her pals (in Vera Wang frocks), two of whom accessorized with cowboy boots.
Bridesmaid Bouquets
Each of Elizabeth’s nine bridesmaids carried a bouquet of tulips, gardenia foliage, rosemary, ranunculus, freesia, and oregano tied in orange ribbon
Groomsmen
Groomsmen, in J. Crew Suits, Hermes ties, and Sperry Top-Sider for J. Crew loafers, kick back with cold beverages.
The Boutonnieres
Rose hips, rose buds, Gomphrena ‘Strawberry Fields,’ and oregano added a bright pop to the men’s lapels.
The Location
The couple returned to the idyllic orange groves surrounding Thacher, their alma mater in Ojai, to exchange vows. They wanted to be reminded of the time they spent riding horses and snacking on fresh fruit in this very location.
To create “Thacher” the horse, florist and event designer Mindy Rice filled a life-size topiary frame with hay. The party animal “made his debut at the rehearsal dinner wearing New Mexican riding blankets,” says Mindy, then showed up at the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, each time sporting new attire.
Ceremony Programs
The wedding program, held here by Elizabeth’s brother, outlines the ceremony, gave a shout-out to the couple’s parents and grandparents, and thanked the Thacher School.
Ceremony Decor
A bustling arrangement in shades of tangerine, pink, and green adds a bright pop of color to the stone bridge leading to the ceremony site.
Vows with a View
With its spectacular vista of the Ojai Valley, Thacher’s Outdoor Chapel requires scant adornment. Simple touches, like a garland of fresh oranges and foliage draping from the podium, feel organic and natural.
Just Married
The couple share a private moment. “We knew we had to get married at Thacher to bring everything full circle,” says the bride.
The Reception
Guests headed to Ojai Valley Inn & Spa for the wedding reception. Foliage, fruit, and leafy wreaths on the chandeliers transform the inn’s ballroom into a lovely orchard.
Cocktail Hour
Chilled melon-mint soup provided refreshment for friends and family
Table Settings
Earthy linens and iridescent taupe charger plates offered a sleek, muted balance to vibrant flowers.
Reception Decor
Slatted wood boxes filled with fruit and orange blossoms brought fragrance and color to the cocktail tables.
Custom Headpiece
The bride’s custom headpiece used the same hand-painted fabric as one of the layers in her silk-and-tulle Vera Wang gown.

Classic Europe Wedding Inspiration Shoot with Jose Villa Featured on Ruffled Blog!
Classic Europe Wedding Inspiration
Inspired by the ever-ending romance and classic style that the old continent reminisces, Sugar and Fluff dreamed up an equally gorgeous translation to wedding design, all captured by Jose Villa. The large flower arrangement was inspired by the painting “The Bouquet” by Jan Brueghel, and the idyllic setting in Santa Barbara was the perfect spot for a Tuscan-inspired backdrop. So without further ado, I will leave with you Aasim of Sugar and Fluff…
From Sugar and Fluff:
The shoot was inspired by classic European elements; From trips to farmer markets to Rembrandt still life paintings that captured composition and transformed common items around the kitchen or house into art. We were able to make this vision come to life by experimenting with new ideas of rustic statement pieces and centerpieces of today’s dining contour. Our inspiration for the floral was heavily inspired by the painting “The Bouquet” by Jan Brueghel.
One of the most romantic colors of the season is a deep burgundy that adds the right depth to our centerpiece and focal point of the table, an asymmetrical arrangement of wildflowers cascading down our table assembled by Mai of Bunch Studio. The rhythm is kept throughout the table with organic ombré apples, misted with edible (yes, edible! look up gold spray paint for your food here) gold paint. The rich purple tones were brought back to the table through tarnished flatware, etched porcelain dinner plates and blackberries.
The invitations were designed as a preview of the event–inspired by the hygienic movement of the 1930′s. “Spatial dimensions were also determined in order to optimize the workflow” in which we framed our simple serif typeface with a floral wreath.

Taking the concept of the colorful bins of beans and lentils one would find at a farmer’s market, we used the legumes to represent each guest’s place card with a distinct array of colors. We were able to find a charming grid-iron Eiffel Tower, which we contrasted with bright cascading flowers that brought our soft pastel palette to the guest table. The shoot wouldn’t have been complete without our Hilly fields of Santa Barbara in lieu of a Tuscany setting.
Classic European fashion is all about basic colors, simplified accessories, and being sexy without showing much skin. When choosing wardrobe for this shoot, the first thing that came to the stylist’s mind was mixing black, white and pink. Those colors represent classic femininity. The wardrobe worn by the model needed to be modest but still show her body. The high waisted skirt showed her tiny waist and the cream lace top, drew attention to her neck and collar bones. The pink dress, again showed her tiny waist and the slits on the sleeves gave one a peak of her arms. The accessories needed to be elegant and bold, yet not steal the attention away from the beauty of the model; Pearls, gold, and little pops of color.
