Central California Chic Wedding by Jenna Marie Photography

As much as I love bright colors and loads of fabulous details, sometimes it’s the understated affairs that really pique my interest. Weddings sans pomp with just a girl in a gorgeous dress and her love getting married out in the open air. A wedding just like this Ojai beauty shot by Jenna Marie Photography. It is au naturel and edited to perfection by A Tavola! See the full spread here. Ojai WeddingOjai Wedding 1Ojai Wedding 2Ojai Wedding 3Ojai Wedding 4Ojai Wedding 5Ojai Wedding 6Ojai Wedding 6
From Jenna Marie PhotographyTwin Peaks Ranch is like the private balcony off the master suite of the majestic and understated bedroom community that is beautiful Ojai, CA. So when Sara and Gary’s seasoned sense of individuality collided with this storybook secret at the foot of Ojai’s Topa Topa mountains, their party of 60 close family and friends fortuned to soak up a destination wedding infused with the effortless charm and elegance of this Spanish Mission Revival.
Upon arrival, all of the guests were greeted by the groom himself and escorted to the ceremony site. The intimate ceremony was presided over by a dear, ordained friend of many years and included the heartfelt participation of other friends and family members. Spending time with and enjoying their guests was of top priority to Gary and Sara who opted to join the cocktail hour immediately following the ceremony rather than escaping to take pictures. Gary and Sara are both foodies and delighting the palate ranked high on their list of wedding priorities. Neither they nor their guests could have been disappointed with the culinary artistry of A Tavola Catering, who offered plates of butternut squash ravioli, seared diver scallops or succulent lamb accompanied by a goat cheese salad and freshly baked bread. In keeping with the organic beauty of the Ranch, the bride and groom chose not to overwhelm their reception with linens and large arrangements, but rather highlighted the eight, dark-stained farmhouse tables by using freshly planted regional herbs as centerpieces, reflecting their love for food.
It was the affectionate atmosphere that elevated the occasion to rare heights. One might describe the evening as an elegant backyard dinner party. Yes there was a most contented, peaceful and completely imperturbable enamor between bride and groom and it certainly was a celebration of marriage. But it was the warmth that radiated from all the guests and the participation of everyone in making the day such a celebration that really set it apart. Even as the photographers, theorized to be part of the background, we departed with much more than happily married clients, but additionally with a firmly established feeling of true and meaningful friendship with Sara and Gary and lingering memories from their flawless evening at Ojai’s east end retreat under the stars.Wedding Photography: Jenna Marie Photography / Event Planning: A Tavola! / Catering: Duo Catering and Events of Santa Barbara / Location: Twin Peaks Ranch / Bride’s Shoes: DSW / Bride’s Dress:Nordstrom / Bride’s Hair + Make-up: TEAM Hair & Make-up

Santa Barbara Wedding from The Youngrens

June 27th. 2011 by Mallory5 comments

Good Monday Morning LBBers! Boy do we have a great line up of gorgeous nuptials this week. Starting here – Oh my goodness. This wedding needs very little introduction. This bride put together an all star LBB team, including The Youngrens amazing photography, TEAM Hair and Makeup, rentals fromWildflower Linen, and lighting by LBPS Events. Really, what more is there to say? I could mention the pretty in pink decor, or the amazing custom bridesmaid dresses, or even the absolutely stunning floral design, but really, if I started on the killer style of this affair, I could go on for days. So instead, I’ll let you take it all in. From start to finish. And then more – at The Youngren’s blog.

After much persistence from a co-worker who swore her nephew, Joshua, and I were destined to get married, I agreed to go on a blind-date. It was not good. In fact, it went down as one of the worse blind dates I had ever been on. After two years of no contact with Joshua, but still a diligent persistence by his Aunt, Joshua and I agreed to meet again. This second-first date found us both on a path of making positive changes in our lives and pursuing our passions. It was perfect timing. We never looked back from that point.

After one month of dating, Joshua bought me blue, Christian Loubouton peep toed shoes. I knew I was going to marry this man… and not just because I had found a man who liked to shoe shop. I vowed not to wear them until our wedding day. We were engaged 5 months later.

When it came to planning our wedding, there were a few non-negotiables – being married by my father who is a pastor, having an abundance of white flowers, and having our big day in a beach city. Joshua and I are lovers of boutique hotels, so The Canary Hotel in Santa Barbara was the perfect location. The minute I walked into the hotel I was pleasantly bombarded with the architecture, décor, color and patterns that ardorn the lobby. The rooftop had stunning views of the mountains and the red-tiled roofs Santa Barbara is famous for. It would be perfect for the chic yet whimsical wedding that Joshua and I wanted to create.

Joshua and I prefer more intimate settings. We wanted our big day to reflect this. On that day we were surrounded by 75 of our closest family and friends. Our wedding invitations set the tone for the blush color and Spanish-style floral pattern that we carried throughout our wedding day; in the programs, escort cards, menus and the three bridesmaid dresses that were custom made.

For our ceremony, we had a candle line aisle and a four post canopy dripping in white hydrangeas and orchids. We wanted a sit-down dinner in the ballroom to feel more like a dinner party rather than a reception. We had guests sit at either square or rectangle tables draped in matte satin beige linens and embellished with sweet centerpieces (created by the amazingly talented Jackie Combs of Jackie Combs Floral Design) of white vases with an array of white flowers.

A seperate ballroom for dancing housed a white dance floor, white couches and even more white flowers. We know that the smallest details created the strongest memories for us. From my blue shoes, to our custom Lakers groom cupcakes. From our “first-look” pictures to the custom made bracelet I wore. From taking communion for the first time as a couple to having my seven nieces and nephews a part of our ceremony. These are all memories Joshua and I will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Real Wedding: Danielle & Erik by Mary Jane Photography

Here are some of our favorite pics from a recent Santa Barbara wedding shot by Mary Jane Photography. For the bride, we wanted to play up her eyes by lining the inside rims with a dark brown/black liner & adding lots of individual lashes! We finished off her look by adding a soft, nude lip.  Kristin Ramsey, the fabulous Santa Barbara wedding planner & owner of Joy De Vivre did a wonderful job incorporating tons of details into this romantic, outdoor Santa Barbara wedding!
