This was such a fun wedding – a truly kind couple – and really talented vendors made it just the most wonderful day. A big thanks to Jill LaFleur for introducing me to Jeff & Audrey Dunham – we loved working with you guys! Lots of pretty flowers from Kate and I loved all the table lovelies from Case de Perrin. Ceci outdid herself with the custom painted invite. I could photograph this sort of effortless look all day long. Thatch shot this wedding with me and, well, I love having him around too 🙂

When Jose Villa and Jill La Fleur hold a workshop, beautiful things happen. Amazingly beautiful things. Like gorgeous displays of floral perfection from Flowerwild, a cake (almost) too pretty to eat from Maggie Austin Cake and these mesmerizing images from the oh-so-fabulous Wendy Laurel, who never EVER fails to steal our hearts with each and every photo she takes. All set against a breathtaking Haiku Mill backdrop and featuring one stop-you-in-your-tracks moment after another, this, my friends, is a day chock-full of inspiration and a whole lot of pretty. My best advice is to take your time and ENJOY the wedding planning process. We started planning 15 months in advance, so we never felt rushed to choose our vendors or to book everything at once. Because of this we were able to choose the best vendors. In my opinion this is the secret to end up with the wedding of your dreams! Whenever you get overwhelmed or stressed out, take a step back and remind yourself that your wedding day will be the best day of your life and everything you have ever dreamt it to be. (Trust me, it really will be!) All of the planning is definitely worth it when I think back to our wedding day. I can honestly say I wish I could do it all again…and again.

What It’s Like to Be a Ceci Bride:
The Ceci New York creative process was by far the most exciting and rewarding part of our wedding planning! Custom invitations give you a glimpse into what your wedding will look and feel like before your big day. Ceci turns all your wedding dreams and ideas into an inspiration board and from there creates the most beautiful interpretation of your wedding through her custom invitation designs. She truly is a designer, and there is no limit to what Ceci can do. She even had the ruched tulle bellybands hand-sewn for our invites! Plus, she keeps the whole design process so organized by creating a timeline she really sticks to. As for the final product, every little detail on the invites was perfection and of the highest quality. The paper and the letterpress was out-of-this-world gorgeous! To say that our invitations were perfect is an understatement!

Lauren and Tae’s destination wedding in Maui was an intimate ceremony and reception that were complemented with vibrant colors. Their wedding gave a nod to tradition (their mothers wore hanboks), and the outdoor ceremony exemplified modern elegance.

There’s a fall chill in the air – things are definitely getting cozy and romantic!

To get you in the mood, this week I’m thrilled to be featuring a project I worked on with event planner Jill La Fleur, whose romantic vision I simply adore. Jill chose Grand Palais, an opulent-yet-subtle invitation from my ready-to-order line, for a dreamy photo shoot at New York’s Metropolitan Building (which, by the way, is great place for your big event). I love how she was inspired by the invite to create a magical, flower-filled world graced by models styled with a hint of old-fashioned charm. I wouldn’t mind trying out the redheaded model’s curly bob one day. Which element from the shoot has you spellbound?

Maui Wedding Featured on Style Me Pretty!

I know that I go a little bride-gaga on the site every now and then (okay, all the time) and it’s rare that the groom gets nearly as much gushing as he should. I know, I’m working it. But I’m failing miserably. Yes, the groom is dreamy and handsome and I’m sure he’s amazing. And based on the total catch of a bride he got, he’s probably really, really wonderful. But once again, I can’t stop staring at the women behind this beautiful wedding. The bride that is basically a model, the bridesmaid that is absolute cuteness and the mothers who have redefined the word elegance for me. And with a backdrop like the Maui perfection that Jill LaFleur created and photographs that Wendy Laurel snapped, this little fete is one that has quickly climbed to the top of my list. From Wendy Laurel Photography…A beautiful Maui wedding – a blend of traditional, Korean, and Island styles. The bride and groom are both Korean. The bride wore a beautiful traditional dress by Alma Novia at the ceremony, but both mother’s wore colorful and bright Korean traditional dresses. The couple was married at Gannon’s Restaurant in Wailea. The next day, the bride donned her Korean dress as well as her wedding gown and the couple did photos in the funky town of Paia, on nearby cliffs and sugarcane fields.

From the Bride…I chose Maui because we both wanted an intimate wedding far away from home. Also, both of our parents have never been to Hawaii so we wanted them to experience it. Of course it was everyone else’s first time too! We chose Maui because it is the most romantic Hawaiian island in my opinion. The most important thing for me was that everyone had a memorable experience, a wedding in paradise! A wedding that you think about for a long long time.

Who knew pink + lavender could be such a smashing combo? And set against the backdrop of the Metropolitan Building with it’s exposed brick and perfectly peeling walls, this styled shoot is fast becoming our favorite and is positively brimming with fabulous details for you to infuse into your own big day. Perhaps it’s the lavender dress that you take away from this (we’re dying over that number), the single blooms at each place setting or maybe the feathers are what really caught your eye? Styled by the virtuoso of wedding decor, Jill La Fleur with photography by Matthew Lee of CLY Creation, FABULOUS hair and makeup by Mar of TEAM Hair & Makeup and gorgeously crafted paper goods by none other than Ceci New York, we have quite the gem on our hands. It’s boasting a dream palette of romantic colors mixed with gorgeous feminine details and old world charm woven throughout. J’adore to bits and bits. See it all here!

From Jill La Fleur… As soon as Matthew, the photographer, showed me images of the Metropolitan Building, inspiration for this shoot came rushing in. I fell in love with the location! The 9,00 square foot, 4 story building is filled to the brim with antiques, furniture and all sorts of collectibles that we were able to incorporate into the shoot. With huge wrap-around windows with beautiful city views, exposed brick walls with chipping paint & wood floors, we were able to create a unique, antique, ultra-romantic Victorian feel.

The colors for the table setting were ivory, creams and touches of light dusty blue/grey. I wanted the flowers to bring a pop of color to the table with shades of pink. The vibrant pink bouquet also played nicely off the lavender dress. For the escort card table, I had individual antique tea cups with a bloom in each one placed next to an antique door knob as the card holder. We also incorporated the antique door knobs next to the name tags on the table, along with ostrich feathers placed across the menus to add that bit of Victorian romance. The etched crystal with brass lids also added my favorite touch of Anthropologie to the table. For the linens, I layered a blue/grey natural linen with an antique ivory lace overlay, to give texture. I had a wonderful time visiting New York and being apart of such a wonderful shoot with such talented vendors. I can’t wait to plan a wedding at this amazing location!
