We adore Flutter Magazine. Dedicated to couture wedding and event artistry, it’s a curated collection of chic celebrations for both brides and pretty party purveyors alike. There is an artful approach to every story told through fresh ideas, details and imagery…Every issue is packed with 100 pages of pretty (real weddings, small gatherings, recipes, DIY’s, and more!) that are sure to set your heart aflutter. And that’s exactly what the magazine’s editor, Kim Wiseley, did for us with her Santa Ynez, California wedding. The dynamic planner-florist duo, Joy Proctor and Amy Osaba, orchestrated the most pristinely lovely elements throughout, set amongst the ever gorgeous Sunstone Winery backdrop, and beautifully captured by inspiring photographer Jose Villa. We are beyond proud to have styled Kim’s hair + makeup and, as an added bonus, land the cover of Issue No. 12 – Special Edition. A dream come true…

2017 Bridal Beauty Looks to Inspire / Style Me Pretty Features Mar

2017 Bridal Beauty Looks to Inspire / Featuring TEAM's Creative Director, Mar, on her tips and tricks for hair and makeup styling - photography by Matthew Ree

It’s Friday, folks! And our very own Mar is heading up today’s Instagram Takeover on Style Me Pretty. She’ll be offering tips and tricks for hair and makeup styling, based on her feature in SMP’s 2017 Bridal Beauty Looks to Inspire (soooo good). Here’s a sneak peek into her tips for smoky eyes + crazy, fun hair…

Consider natural tones when applying “smokey” eyeshadow colors to your eyes. We like less smoke and more lashes – we LOVE fun and flirty false eyelashes! This is the key to this soft, yet dramatic, look. THM Hair Extensions were added in for the tousled “down do”. We waved the hair with a one-inch iron, wrapping wide pieces around the barrel and then allowed the hair to cool before literally tossing her hair up and down! Pin the sides up and you have some sexy waves, which will stay out of your face throughout your wedding. Or use the volume and texture to create an amazing braided updo for later (dancing time?!).

Martha Stewart Weddings Feature / The Style Issue

By |2016-11-05T14:35:33-06:00October 5th, 2016|Featured, Real Wedding, Spotlight, Uncategorized|

martha stewart weddings magazine feature

We are beside ourselves with this feature in the latest issue of Martha Stewart Weddings / The Style Issue!  It was an honor to do hair and makeup for this gorgeous and joyful multi-cultural wedding; the bride, Hana, in a word…stunning. The couple’s story is one to behold…

It’s not surprising that Olu Ajijola, a cardiologist, and Hana Malek, then a trauma nurse, first met in an intensive care unit. It was 2009, and Olu, newly arrived in Los Angeles from Boston, came to Hana’s ICU to consult on a patient; he quickly found excuses to return to “check on him.” “I thought she was beautiful, and her eyes really struck me,” he recalls. The two had their first date three weeks later and were soon a couple.

Other events at an ER two years later turned out to be just as fateful. Hana had suddenly become ill and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. “Her voice on the phone, scared and sounding poorly, was one of the hardest things I’ve ever listened to,” says Olu. He rushed to see her, and they exchanged a wordless hug. “It felt like an eternity,” says Hana. “We’d known we loved each other, but we hadn’t made the leap to feeling we wanted to end our lives together. That night started us on the path.”

The two wine and nature lovers found the perfect venue in the Vintage Ranch, 200 miles northwest of their home in L.A., with its views of rolling hills, olive groves, and vineyards… Few knew that Olu had carried that idea even further, engraving lines from Hana’s electrocardiogram into his ring to have her heartbeat always near.

Inspiring Arabic and Mexican Multicultural Wedding

By |2016-09-28T11:59:58-06:00September 28th, 2016|Featured, Real Wedding, Spotlight|

smp_mutlicultural-wedding-13

In a most spectacular sharing of two cultures merging in wedded union, this bride and groom do it right. Seamlessly blending Mexican and Arabic traditions with culinary delights, special dances, music and-of course- style; love couldn’t help but nestle in.

Photographer Luna de Mare offers this lovely perspective, “Located along the Central Coast of California, Sunstone Villa & Winery in Santa Ynez is the perfect backdrop for the wedding of your dreams. The peachy hues of French limestone, and lush grape vines in the vineyard offer a beautiful landscape as a setting for an al fresco experience. Melva & Ali chose to incorporate both their cultures into a blended affair, featuring Mariachis and Arabic Dancers. Their Ceremony took place at the Villa’s two giant Oak trees, with cascading Florals and Olive leaves in front of their closest friends and family, with a nod to both cultures.”

See how this heart-filled celebration, featured on Style Me Pretty, delights the senses.

Style Me Pretty spotlights TEAM Hair and Makeup in their featured Vendor Guide and Portfolios

We are beyond thrilled to be in the spotlight on Style Me Pretty as their featured hair and makeup artist vendor. Choosing just the right team to help create and enhance your most meaningful life celebrations is huge. We get that. Style Me Pretty gets it, too. Which is why their sparkly new Vendor Guide + Portfolios is a game-changer. We here at TEAM are honored to be a part of the fete.

And could we ask for a more gracious + honeyed testimony from the founder of Style Me Pretty herself? Swoon…

“There are few things that I could say about Mar Romero and her TEAM that haven’t already been said. She is loved. She is respected. She is pure and honest talent. But she’s also so much more. Mar Romero works from her soul. She pushes herself to be better every single day, she questions the norm, knowing that she can always make something or someone more beautiful than they ever hoped. She cultivates her artistry with the kind of thoughtful care that you only get to see in those who are truly doing what they love.” –Abby Larson, Founder of Style Me Pretty
