An Artistic California Coast Ranch Wedding

By | September 24th, 2017|Featured, Real Wedding|

artistic california coast ranch wedding

The free spirited, artistic touches from this lovely California coast ranch wedding has our hearts fluttering and inspired. And oh! That veil!

From the Bride…I wanted every last detail of my wedding to evoke emotions from our guests and ultimately myself as well. That was my vision. If I wasn’t moved by something when wedding planning, I’d cut or rework it. I used that as my gut check throughout the process. We got married in wintertime at Rancho Dos Pueblos outside Santa Barbara, California. It was very important to me that the color palette and style fit both the region and the season. We chose stark, ivory whites, bright pops of burnt orange and citrusy corals with dark, moody greens, and we asked our guests to wear their version of winter whites as well. I felt it was essential that our wedding feel cohesive but not over-styled.

Go-to song/TV show/movie…
I don’t have just one song, show, or movie that is my go-to. I love all forms and kinds. One of my favorite things to do is watch YouTube. Here I can watch all my favorite shows, listen to music, and learn all kinds of new things. Youtube Is my go-to because there is a vast array of content and I can access it on my own time.
If you could work on any wedding anywhere in the world, what would it be?
This is such a hard question because there are so many places in the world I would love to visit. If I were to come up with a top 3 (in no particular order) it would be: France, Japan, England. These are 3 countries I haven’t been to that are on my bucket list.
Thanks, Marla!

A Colorful Floral Infused California Wedding

By | August 29th, 2017|Featured, Real Wedding|

Floral infused California wedding

From a ceremonial color palette of blush and pops of pastel to a celebratory reception drenched in bright vibrant colors with lush greenery and gold, this Belmond El Encanto wedding gushed breathtaking romance. Beyond swoon-worthy florals and event design by Camellia Floral Design and Danae Grace Events, respectively, made this gala one for the books.

I relished in making every detail memorable – for us and our friends and family. When I first sat down with Danae Pearce, with Danae Grace Events, my wedding planner, she instantly understood my style and dream design. We really wanted to create something that complimented the El Encanto and its gorgeous ceremony site, including a wisteria-lined lily pond and brick courtyard. Our inspiration became “a timeless, elegant, romantic affair with breathtaking details” full of florals and pops of color…

Danae was able to capture our inspiration in every fashion. On the day of the wedding, as my dad and I approached the bridge covered with rose petals built over the pond to serve as our aisle, I looked into Itai’s eyes and my heart was full. A bridge covered with rose petals was built over the pond and served as our aisle. The sun shone; it was 75 degrees; gorgeous flowers in shades of blush and pink surrounded us in all directions; and we could feel the love and support as we said our vows in front of those who mean the most to us.

Absolutely stunning.

Claire Pettibone’s California Dreamin’ Bridal Collection

By | July 31st, 2017|Featured|

Claire Pettibone's California Dreamin' Bridal Collection

Daydreaming breezy lace gowns, wildflowers in abundance, that sunshine glow at the heart of California sea and landscapes…get ready for some serious jaw-dropping beauty from Claire Pettibone’s ethereal new California Dreamin’ bridal collection.

From Claire Pettibone… I love the eclectic style and freedom we have in California. Designing this collection of gowns inspired by my home state, I wanted to keep the dresses feminine but with a relaxed, easy vibe. The bohemian look has always been a favorite of mine…I was raised by artist parents, so it must be in the genes!

For this shoot, we headed out to a Malibu ranch for a quintessential day in the sun. We kept the styling to a bare minimum, just natural beauty and a few fresh picked wild flowers were all we needed.

Effortless beauty is something I think we all try to emulate. Like, “yeah, I woke up like this.” Coachella, Laguna, Carmel…these names just conjure a certain vibe that sounds like a really great party, a wedding that you wouldn’t want to miss!

Welcome to our TEAM Spotlight series, friends! We’ll begin with Kita, one of TEAM’s Primary Hair Stylists, as well as our Hair Educator. Here she talks about her dream wedding destination and what she would tell her 13 year old self…

Flutter Mag Editor's Santa Ynez butterfly wedding

What do you like best about the age you are now?
I have perspective and a little wisdom; I am comfortable with myself.  It hasn’t always been fair or easy but I am a survivor and I am proud of that. At this point it’s much easier to see it this way than it would have been 10 years ago.
Makeup's spotlight on Style Me Pretty
What advice do you wish you could give your 13 year old self?
Okay… this is a hard one because I would like to give my 13 year old self a lot of advice and maybe even a smack on the back of the head…. In all seriousness though I think I would tell myself: “Buy a lot of stock in Apple, Amazon and Google.”
What is the most exciting thing about your work industry?
I love my industry for so many reasons – we meet so many awesome and dynamic people! One thing  I especially enjoy is working in new places and crossing paths with people I may not have otherwise.  Not to mention that being part of someone’s wedding day and helping to create a lasting memory for  them is an enormous honor – I bear this in mind and it keeps me humble and thankful.

Your favorite on-site wedding location is…
OKAY — loaded question! Everywhere we go is beautiful but personally I am partial to places with natural and historic character and beauty.

Engagement Session Destination / From Texas to California

By | July 20th, 2017|Engagement Session|

WHY IT PAYS TO TRAVEL FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION: Santa Barbara, California / photography by Rebecca Yale / TEAM Hair and Makeup

We may be a little biased, but Santa Barbara, California is one of our favorite destination spots. Not least of all for engagement sessions, as its well-equipt with some of the most romantic settings in which woman, man, or wild beasts roam. This from photographer Rebecca Yale, as featured this week on Style Me Pretty…

Alex and Chris came all the way from Texas to California to photograph their beautiful Spring engagement session in the beautiful rolling hills of Santa Barbara and Santa Ynez. Alex chose four incredible outfits, a mix from casual to gowns to perfectly suit the gorgeous backdrop of Central California. We began the session in the Santa Barbara botanical gardens exploring the redwood grove and fields of white flowers. Next we headed over to Santa Ynez to photograph in the beautiful Sycamore Allee among the giant live oaks at Kestrel Park.
